What exactly does 'genki' mean? The literal translation in Japanese means 'happy' or well. In fact, in Japan people don't ask, 'How are you?' - rather they ask, 'Are you genki?'. It is therefore VERY important to always be as genki as possible! So join me on my adventures as I indulge my wanderlust, eat lots of raw fish, and explore the giant neon beehive that is Tokyo.

uhhmmm.......
I hate to ask a stupid question.... but WTF IS THIS!!!!!!!
Snapped this shot yesterday as I was walking through Shinjuku Station and simply HAD to take a picture. What is this for? What are they doing to this woman? And how can she be so placid and calm when someone is sticking some kind of torture device up your left nostril?

Mego!! Haha that is hilarious. Thanks for the clarification, it makes sense because half of Tokyo is sick and full of 'gog in the chest' and it is pretty gross.
She looks calm because she's actually DEAD. The tube is to insert a new living organism into her then she'll be alive again. Um. I don't think that's any weirder than what the REAL reason is - which we don't know yet. Love to find out though.

yam... thats her right nostril woman... of course she looks placid... its an entirely different story if their sucking out "gog" from your left nostril... but the right nostril, not so bad!
